Last week my sorority put on an event called Bead for Life, where we sold bracelets made by women in Uganda from recycled magazine paper. The bracelets were beautiful, and all the proceeds went back to these women so that they can maintain a sustainable living. Check out the organization’s website http://www.beadforlife.org to learn more about this great cause!

Tonight I rewatched a documentary called Invisible Children that I hadn’t seen since high school. It’s about refugees in Uganda, specifically the children there who commute to the city every night so they won’t be abducted by the rebel group called the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). In 2003, three young men traveled to Uganda to document the war there, and discovered these children. Their time there resulted in an amazing documentary that has helped bring attention to this problem that has long been ignored.
I highly recommend watching the documentary and visiting their website, http://www.invisiblechildren.com.
